My New Name

Under the infinite
prana-filled sky of Fairfield, Iowa
one good day, my old last name fell off of me

in an anonymous street, maybe at noon.

The wind stopped. Silence invaded me.
an inner click occurred.

a cloud of death,
an obscuration of radiance,
that had been shrouding me for several years
or lifetimes fell off

not quite physically, but essentially
existentially, to the ground.

I looked down

as if trying to see what had fallen off of me.

Then I looked up, smiling onto the blue sky.

I drew in a deep new breath, Light-filled
To there and then

re-baptize myself

In joy, in Yoga

To Re-connect
TO R E M E M B E R

arms, legs, head, sky
BLUE
True Blue

I AM now Pilar de la Luz
A Pillar of Light
